Dan Brown - The lost Symbol

Dan Brown - The lost Symbol

I’m not an avid reader; it’s only in the last few years that I have even starting picking up books that weren’t in the reference section.  My library until then consisted of technical reference manuals and Microsoft Press offerings.

The bug hit me a few years ago.  I was killing time in Kuala Lumpur airport waiting for a flight and decided I would give a book a try, it seemed the normal thing to do; everyone around me was sat, stood or even walking intently reading a novel.  Of course the fact I was standing a mere few meters away from a book store had nothing to do with it!

On entering the store, I didn’t really have a clue what kind of book I was after, but standing right there in front of me was a stand dedicated to Dan Brown’s book, The Da Vinci Code.  That’ll do me I thought and I duly handed over a handful of Malaysian Ringgits, I think I even got some change which was nice.  Later that week after a few unsuccessful attempts to start reading it and being able to focus on what I was reading, I finally managed to really get my head into the book, and I couldn’t put it down.  So, Emerald Bay on Pangkor Laut Island is remembered as not only being a beautiful, idyllic spot but also the place I started and finished my first novel!

Later on in that holiday, I managed to find 2 other books by Dan Brown whilst transiting in Dubai, Deception Point and Digital Fortress.  Both were suitably digested within a matter of days.  Not long later, Angels and Demons was also sat on my bookshelf the spine suitably creased owing to my reading.

Of course Dan Brown has to date only released those titles so since I have been reading books by Robert Ludlum and Clive Cussler.  I have a tendency to read political thrillers.

This morning I wake to an email from Waterstones, telling me that the pre-order I placed for The Lost Symbol has now been dispatched, to be honest I had forgotten all about it but now I can’t wait to get started.

Keep the good work coming Dan – Review to follow.
